Calcium hydroxyapatite

Calcium hydroxyapatite

What is it

Calcium hydroxyapatite is a compound that occurs naturally in our connective tissue (e.g. in bones and teeth). For aesthetic purposes, it is administered "suspended" in a gel.

Indications

Shallowing of the nasolabial furrows, lifting the drooping corners - filling the so-called "marionette lines", scars on the face, improving the oval of the face, correcting the lines of the chin and jaw, and restoring the skin volume on the hands. Calcium hydroxyapatite should not be applied to the forehead or in the immediate vicinity of the eyes and mouth.

Procedure

Before the procedure, the skin is anesthetized with the cream, which is why it is completely painless. The preparation is administered with a thin needle. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and its effects are visible immediately. Immediately after the treatment, the Patient can return to their activities.

How it works

Calcium hydroxyapatite works in two steps. The gel contained in the preparation immediately fills and binds with the tissues, the microparticles of the preparation create a "scaffold" in the tissues, stimulating the skin cells to produce collagen. The disintegration of the preparation correlates with the simultaneous deposition of new collagen, ensuring a more durable filling at the injection site. Thanks to this, the lifting effect can last longer. The action of calcium hydroxyapatite is fully reversible.

Effects

The effects of using calcium hydroxyapatite are visible immediately after the treatment. The quality of the skin is improved, wrinkles are smoothed, furrows are shallowed, features are softened, contours are improved without limiting facial expressions. The full effect of the therapy appears after about 3-6 months and lasts up to about 2 years (on average for about 12-18 months, depending on the patient's individual characteristics). After this time, it gradually disappears. The treatment may be repeated many times. Since calcium hydroxyapatite stimulates the natural biological processes in the tissues, the treatment can be used as an anti-wrinkle prophylaxis, preventing the formation of deep wrinkles and furrows, so even young people can use it.

Recommendations after injection

Immediately after the injection, for 12 hours after the procedure, do not warm up (sun, solarium) or cool the face area, because this may lead to the distribution of the preparation and thus reduce the effect. Makeup should also be avoided in order not to increase the risk of infection after punctures. Do not apply pressure to the puncture sites. Avoid strenuous exercise. Keep at least a 2-week interval between the next aesthetic or cosmetic treatment (including massage).

Side Effects

After the treatment, there may be swelling, slight bruising and pain at the injection site. These symptoms disappear on their own within a few days.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, herpes skin infections, inflammatory changes, e.g. acne, allergy to the preparation or any of its ingredients, recurrent streptococcal infections (angina, rheumatism), immunity disorders, tendency to colloids (keloids). In addition, severe cardiac arrhythmias, epilepsy, porphyria and taking medications that inhibit liver metabolism. Anticoagulation therapy, aspirin, vitamin C increase the risk of hematomas, so it is recommended to discontinue them 1-2 days before the planned surgery. Earlier application of a permanent filler.
