Nasolabial Furrows

Nasolabial Furrows

The reasons

There are two main factors that contribute to the formation of nasolabial folds. First, the activity of the facial muscles (mainly the muscles lifting the corners of the mouth), and second, loss of volume and "drooping" of the cheeks.

Over time, the appearance and properties of our skin change. Many factors influence the formation of wrinkles and the change of facial contours. There are two types of skin aging: physiological aging, related to our genes, hormones and environmental aging - conditioned by external factors (photoaging).

With age, atrophic processes within its layers begin to dominate the skin. The skin becomes sagging and dry. The skin cells' production of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and lipids, the basic substances responsible for proper hydration, elasticity and firmness of the skin, decrease.

The correction of this area must be approached comprehensively.

Depending on the advancement of the changes, the following are used: filling the furrows or, additionally, lifting the cheeks - restoring the oval and leveling the tear trough.
