Cheeks Drooping

Cheeks Drooping

The reasons

Over time, the appearance and properties of our skin change. Many factors influence the formation of wrinkles and the change of facial contours. There are two types of skin aging: physiological aging, related to our genes, hormone changes (biological age) and environmental aging - conditioned by external factors (photoaging).

With age, atrophic processes within its layers begin to dominate the skin. The skin becomes sagging and dry. The production of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and lipids, the basic substances responsible for proper hydration, elasticity and firmness of the skin, decrease. Physiological "fat pads" disappear and fat cells are displaced under the influence of changes in the skin structure and gravity. The so-called youth triangle gets reversed.

We most often observe the loss of the oval after the age of 40, but it can happen earlier, e.g. after a large loss of weight.
The formation of drooping cheeks near the lower jaw, are additionally composed of two factors. Firstly, the activity of the facial muscles (mainly the muscles lowering the corners of the mouth), secondly, the loss of volume and "drooping" of the cheeks, as well as atrophy and remodeling in the bones of the skull.

You must approach the correction of this area comprehensively. The choice of the method of facial rejuvenation depends on the area and degree of volume loss and the individual needs of the patient. The treatments, due to their low invasiveness, are commonly called "scalpel-free lifting" due to their high efficiency without the need for surgical intervention, they restore contours, model the cheekbones.
