Cheeks Sagging

Cheeks Sagging

What is it

Drooping cheeks near the lower jaw.

The reasons

Two factors contribute to the formation of so-called "hamsters". Firstly, the activity of the facial muscles (mainly the muscles lowering the corners of the mouth), secondly, loss of volume and "drooping" of the cheeks, also atrophy and remodeling of the bones of the skull. In addition, with age, physiological "fat pads" disappear and fat cells are displaced as a result of changes in the skin structure and gravity. The so-called youth triangle is reversed. The loss of oval is most often observed after the age of 40, but it may happen earlier, e.g. after heavy weight loss.

Over time, the appearance and properties of our skin change. Many factors contribute to the formation of wrinkles and the change of the face oval. There are two types of skin aging: physiological, related to our genes, hormonal changes (biological age) and environmental - conditioned by external factors (photoaging).

With age, the atrophic processes taking place in its layers begin to dominate the skin. The skin becomes slack and dries out. The production of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and lipids, the basic substances responsible for proper hydration, elasticity and firmness of the skin, decrease.

Therefore, the correction of this area should be approached comprehensively. Depending on the advancement of the changes, lipolytic, firming and modeling treatments are performed.
